Case
Due diligence creates competitive advantage.
Requirements related to sustainability and responsible business conduct are increasing rapidly, particularly in public procurement. To meet these expectations and strengthen its internal capabilities, Nordic Surface partnered with Knightec Group to develop a more structured approach to due diligence, including value chain risk identification, follow-up and deviation management.

Background
Nordic Surface is a full-service provider of playgrounds and outdoor environments, offering both proprietary materials and complete project delivery from design and installation to maintenance. Its offering includes artificial grass, rubber and cork-based safety surfaces, as well as services such as project planning, construction and lifecycle management.
Challenge
With an ambition to build the world’s best playgrounds, Nordic Surface identified a need to strengthen its management of human rights and environmental risks across its value chain—from raw materials to installation.
Driven by public procurement requirements, Knightec Group supported the company in analysing risks, particularly in high-risk areas such as raw material extraction, and in establishing a structured approach to risk management and follow-up.
From sustainability frameworks to business impact.
Knightec Group combines sustainability expertise with capabilities in product development, digitalisation and industrialisation. This enables a direct link between strategic insights and concrete actions in products, processes and operations, strengthening competitiveness and long-term resilience.
Knightec Group supported Nordic Surface through a structured approach based on international frameworks such as the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, as well as upcoming regulatory requirements including the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD). The work covered the full process, from risk analysis to implementation and follow-up.

Delivered value
The work resulted in a clear framework for managing risks related to human rights and environmental impacts across the value chain, strengthening both internal capabilities and the company’s ability to meet increasing market and regulatory expectations.
Together, this enables Nordic Surface to manage value chain risks more systematically, strengthen compliance, improve qualification in public tenders and increase its ability to win and deliver on complex projects in a changing regulatory landscape.
