Background
xTactor is developing xBand—an EMG-based wearable that enables interaction without screens or voice control. By translating small muscle movements, such as pinching or tensing fingers, into commands, the technology opens up new possibilities for intuitive, hands-free interaction. Turning this vision into a reliable, compact product requires precision engineering and seamless integration of hardware and design.
Challenge
xTactor needed to take an early-stage concept to a production-ready product in a highly competitive and technically demanding market. The challenge involved managing extremely tight space constraints while integrating sensors, electronics, buttons, and materials—alongside ensuring precision, reliability, and cost-efficiency in both prototyping and low-volume manufacturing.
From prototype to production-ready wearable.
Knightec Group supported xTactor throughout multiple development phases, focusing on both hardware development and production readiness. The work included development of sensors and antennas, silicone prototyping, low-volume injection molding, and advanced two-component (2K) molding techniques.
A key priority was ensuring seamless integration of electronics, buttons, and casing within extremely tight tolerances. Through iterative prototyping and close collaboration, the solution was refined to meet both technical and user requirements, while preparing xBand for the transition to scalable production.
