For over 30 years, Z-Fix has been a trusted tool for measuring height differences on construction sites—replacing manual calculations with a more efficient and reliable method. By working in tandem with standard surveying equipment, Z-Fix simplifies workflows, reduces human error, and saves both time and cost in demanding field conditions.
Challenge
After decades of use, the original Z-Fix was due for a comprehensive update. Key components had become difficult to source, plastic parts were wearing out, and the assembly process was costly and inefficient. The challenge was to redesign the product to meet modern performance, usability, and sustainability standards—while ensuring it remains robust, precise, and future-proof for years to come.

The new Z-Fix was developed in just 10 months—from initial sketches to production—through a complete redesign of both form and function. A magnetic reader replaces the traditional measuring solution for improved accuracy, while updated electronics and a larger display deliver a clearer, more intuitive interface optimized for outdoor use and quick readouts.
The casing, crafted from extruded anodized aluminium, reduces plastic use while improving durability and recyclability. A new symmetrical quick-release clamp ensures secure and flexible mounting of the laser receiver, resulting in a robust, user-friendly tool built to perform reliably in harsh conditions.
