Change management in project environments

Many projects successfully deliver their outputs but face challenges when it comes to making the change work in everyday operations. The challenge is often not planning or structure, but rather how the change is experienced, what reactions it triggers, and what people need in order to adapt. This course provides an introduction to understanding these connections and creating better conditions for achieving the desired outcomes in project environments.

When a project’s outcome involves new ways of working or new behaviors for employees, a good project plan is rarely enough. Whether the change actually takes hold in the organization depends on how people respond to it, understand it, and begin working in new ways. In project-intensive organizations, change management is therefore a critical capability – not only for managers, but for everyone who drives or influences change.

This introductory course provides practical insights into how people respond to change and how you can create the conditions for change to take hold in everyday work. You will learn to identify common obstacles at an early stage, understand reactions and uncertainty constructively, and gain tools for creating engagement and clarity in projects and implementations.

The course is based on established, research-based models in change management and human behavior, with a focus on how to apply them in practice to create real impact – not just deliverables.

Kristina Fossum – change management in practice.

Kristina has extensive experience in change management across both the public and private sectors and has worked with change in complex project environments for many years.

She often highlights the difference between change and improvement: improvement is about making what already exists a little better, while change requires us to truly rethink the way we do things – for real. And that is exactly where many projects get stuck.

Taking a course in change management in project environments gives you practical tools to succeed in this area. Kristina shows how to combine project delivery with effective change management, manage resistance, and create genuine buy-in across the organization, so that change is not simply decided upon, but actually happens.
