Background
The HISEP project, developed by TechnipFMC in partnership with Petrobras, enables separation of oil, gas, and water directly on the seabed. The technology reduces topside processing requirements and supports more efficient use of offshore assets.
The system consists of several highly specialized subsea modules exposed to harsh environmental conditions, high pressures, and complex operational load cases throughout their lifecycle.
Challenge
The challenge was to verify structural integrity across multiple subsea modules with varying configurations, interfaces, and operating conditions.
The opportunity lay in supporting the development of an innovative offshore technology through advanced engineering analyses that could reduce technical risk, strengthen design decisions, and ensure compliance with demanding offshore requirements.
Enabling reliable subsea module design.
Knightec Group performed advanced structural analyses for several critical modules within the HISEP system using detailed finite element models. The work included evaluation of operational, transportation, installation, and environmental load cases, as well as iterative assessments supporting ongoing design refinement.
The project was carried out in close collaboration with TechnipFMC’s engineering teams, ensuring continuous alignment between analytical work, technical requirements, and project milestones. The project combined the expertise of Knightec Group teams in Brazil and Norway, leveraging cross-border collaboration to support TechnipFMC throughout the engineering and design process.
